The Department of Maxillofacial and Diagnostic Sciences specializes in teaching and training students of the dentistry program in courses based on various disciplines, including theoretical and practical aspects of oral medicine, oral diagnosis, oral pathology, and radiological dental sciences.

Course Descriptions
- ORAL BIOLOGY I: Introduces students to the development, composition, functions, microscope features, age changes, and clinical considerations of dental tissues.
- ORAL BIOLOGY 2: Covers the development, composition, microscope features, and functions of the periodontal ligament, alveolar bone, oral mucosa, salivary glands, temporomandibular joint, and maxillary sinus.
- PAIN CONTROL AND LOCAL ANESTHESIA: Introduces students to the principles of local anesthesia and pain control, preparing them for the demands of all other disciplines of dentistry.
- ORAL DIAGNOSIS: Trains third-year dental students in the scientific principles of Oral Diagnosis, enabling them to acquire the clinical skills required for the diagnosis of diseases affecting the Oral and para-oral structures.
- ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL RADIOLOGY I: Enables students to understand the basic principles of dental radiology, including radiation physics, protection, and biological effects, as well as practice intraoral radiographic techniques.
- ORAL PATHOLOGY: Covers various oral and maxillofacial pathoses, including facial and teeth anomalies, infectious diseases, injuries to the head and neck area, and odontogenic lesions.
- ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL RADIOLOGY II: Enables students to practice intraoral radiographic exposure techniques and radiographic interpretation, teaching them to interpret normal anatomy, caries, periodontal and periapical diseases.
- ORAL MEDICINE: Enables students to acquire the clinical skills required for the examination, diagnosis, and management of Oral and para-oral structures lesions, outlining dental considerations and management of selected systemic diseases.
- ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY: Enables students to perform patient examination, formulate a treatment plan, and perform local anesthesia and simple extraction, introducing them to the principles of managing impacted teeth, pre-prosthetic surgery, and cystic lesions.
- Basic Life Support and Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice: Gives practical demonstration in basic life support, preparing students to develop knowledge about managing medically compromised patients and dealing with emergencies in dental practice.
