Program Overview

Euro-Mediterranean Master in Neuroscience and Biotechnology

The Euro-Mediterranean Master in Neuroscience and Biotechnology is a European partnership project funded by the European Union. The project aims to dedicate a common Master's degree in Euro-Mediterranean neuroscience and biotechnology.

Program Overview

  • The program is designed for students who have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in disciplines such as Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related fields like Medicine, Pharmacy, or Agriculture.
  • The degree qualifies recipients as specialists in laboratory neuroscience and applied biotechnology and allows them to register for a PhD in the same disciplines in Egyptian or foreign universities participating in the project.

Details of Study

  1. Duration and Structure: The study duration is two years, consisting of four semesters. The academic year is divided into two semesters (autumn and spring), each lasting 15 weeks. All studies are conducted in the English language.
  2. Course Structure: Courses are taught in the first three semesters, either electronically or through presence in various universities in parallel. The study includes scientific research experiments, thesis writing, and providing a thesis, which should not be less than six months from the beginning.
  3. Third Semester Courses: These contain four different scientific courses that are simultaneous and equal in credit hours. Students may choose one of these courses at the beginning of the second year.
  4. Laboratory or Practical Experiments: After successfully passing the courses in the first three semesters, students must perform experiments (laboratory, practical, or medical) for not less than 24 weeks (six months) in a subject determined by the supervising professor.
  5. Thesis Discussion: The student discusses the obtained results in their origin country or remotely.

Calculation of Credit Hours and School Fees

  • The number of credit hours needed to obtain the Master of Science degree is 120 credit hours in the European system (ECTS) or the equivalent of 30 credit hours (ECTS) in each semester of the first three semesters. 30 credit hours are allocated for the thesis.
  • Courses will be taught either electronically or by presence at various universities in parallel, with each university considering its specialty.
