Program Overview

Academics

The Preparatory Program at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University acts as a bridge between high school and college, specifically in English language learning. Students graduating from high school, where Arabic is the predominant language of instruction, benefit from additional English language instruction to strengthen their language skills and make them successful in their future coursework and lives. In addition, the program focuses on those social and ethical skills that prepare them for college.

Program Structure

Students who enter the program with a basic knowledge of English may take up to a year to move on to college. Entry at a lower level may take up to a year and a half or two years or more. The length of time within the Preparatory Program depends largely on the effort that students put into their courses, which include English, Mathematics, and Study Skills.

Faculty

Our faculty are native or near-native speakers of English and come with MA TESOL, English related degrees, or CELTA/TESOL certification. Most have experience teaching English internationally. They realize that learning English or studying math and other subjects in English can be demanding, so they keep students busy acquiring solid language skills in a communicative, lively style that helps make learning a more enjoyable experience.

Student Experience

Studying in the Preparatory Program at PMU involves much more than the curriculum. Students have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of social and athletic events organized by the Campus Life Department, thus students begin to develop leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, technical, and communicative skills from the earliest stage of their education: these competencies will enable them to succeed as college students and as professionals whether in Saudi Arabia or anywhere else in the world.
