The program aims to provide distinguished education, prepare students to meet community needs, and provide healthcare services while adhering to the cultural, ethical, and religious values of Saudi society.

The strategic objectives of the program are:

• To prepare highly qualified and trained nurses with the ability to use the latest medical equipment and compete in local and international job markets.
• To encourage students to spread health awareness among community members and participate in activities that aim to provide preventive services and protect the community from health hazards.
• To conduct research necessary for developing healthcare in the region at various levels.
• To seek academic program accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment.

The Nursing Program offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

Duration and Study System of the Program

The study period is five academic years, including a unified year for all students to prepare them for university study, three academic years in nursing, and a training year called the "Internship" in the college and accredited training centers in hospitals. The study system is semester-based, with students studying ten semesters over four academic years and two semesters for practical application (the Internship year) before graduating to practice the nursing profession. The total number of credited hours for the Nursing Program is 130 credited hours.

The nursing profession is one of the widest and most common fields of work in the health sector worldwide. Graduates can work as nursing specialists in all health sectors under the policy of localizing health jobs. The demand for nursing jobs is increasing daily, with numerous job opportunities in government and private hospitals, health centers, and various primary healthcare fields, such as clinics, health clinics, and long-term care centers.

Language of Study for the Program

Students study Arabic language and Islamic culture courses in Arabic, while other courses are taught in English, which is the official language of the program.

Organizational Structure of the Program

The Nursing Program is based on two main departments in the College of Vision in Jeddah: the Department of Basic Sciences, which offers the first year of general and basic medical courses, and the Department of Nursing, which supervises the following branches:

• Department of Child Health Nursing
• Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing
• Department of Psychiatric Nursing
• Department of Community Health Nursing

Graduation Requirements and Credit Hours for the Program

To graduate from the Nursing Program, students must complete the graduation requirements, which include four academic years with a total of 130 credited hours and a compulsory Internship year. Students must pass exams successfully according to the study plan, with a minimum overall grade of "Pass."

Internship Year in the Program

The Internship year is a compulsory, intensive training period for all students, aiming to apply theoretical information studied during the academic years. It is a basic requirement for obtaining a license to practice the nursing profession in the Kingdom. The training period is 12 months (47 weeks), during which students work in the college's hospitals and accredited training centers, rotating through different departments. An agreement is in place between the College of Vision in Jeddah and the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom, represented by the ministry's hospitals, to oversee the Internship year. Students practice their full work duties under direct supervision from the college and the hospital's training administration, which evaluates their training according to the college's accredited assessment model and the ministry's conditions. After completing the Internship year, students are awarded a certificate of completion.
