Program Overview
Industrial Engineering Program
The Industrial Engineering (IE) Program was established in 2017 under the umbrella of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University (PSAU). It was initially developed to strengthen the analytical and technical education of engineers by preparing students to address complex industrial challenges.
Program Overview
The IE program offers an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering designed to meet the needs of local communities and regional industries. The region hosts a diverse range of industries, including oil and gas and their supporting sectors, rubber and plastics, metalworking, manufacturing, chemical and mineral products, service enterprises, beverages, machinery, and equipment.
Curriculum
The curriculum was developed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to these industries, while also elevating the social and economic standards of the surrounding communities. The program's faculty members are committed to providing high-quality education that fosters professional competence and sustainable development in the region.
Enrollment and Faculty
As of Fall 2025, the program enrolls 128 undergraduate students. The academic staff includes 14 faculty members—comprising 5 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 2 lecturers, and 1 teaching assistant.
Program Curriculum
The program curriculum consists of 166 credit hours carefully structured to ensure comprehensive coverage of industrial engineering principles and practices.
Study Plan
The study plan for the Industrial Engineering program is divided into five years, with each year further divided into two levels. The courses are designed to provide a balanced education in industrial engineering, covering topics such as mathematics, physics, engineering drawing, computer skills, and industrial operations management.
