Introduction to the Bachelor of Arts in Geography Program

The Department of Geography at the College of Languages and Humanities has developed a comprehensive program, the Bachelor of Arts in Geography, which aligns with local and international standards as well as the requirements of the National Commission for Academic Assessment and Accreditation.


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Geography program is designed to prepare students with specialized competencies in geography, environment, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using modern technologies to meet the requirements of the labor market. The program aims to promote educational quality, scientific research, and innovation in the field of geography, environment, and GIS applications.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:


  1. Apply embedded and integrated environmental and geographic concepts, principles, and theories in different contexts to address geographic issues on a sustainable scientific and planning basis.
  2. Employ critical thinking skills when performing practical tasks and procedures, developing creative solutions to environmental issues and predicting environmental changes in complex and diverse contexts using advanced technologies.
  3. Use investigative and research methods, mathematical operations, quantitative methods, and applications of digital technologies to analyze and process environmental data in complex and diverse contexts.

Program Structure

The program has two tracks:


  • Track: Environmental Geography (128 hours) and ends with a cooperative internship.
  • Track: Geography and Geographic Information Technology (129 hours) and ends with a cooperative internship. The program also includes exit points at the end of the second year with an intermediate diploma in geographical sciences (78) ending with a field internship.

Miner Program

The program includes a Miner program titled Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, which has 16 credit hours. The target group for this program is humanities and engineering students, with admission requirements including a minimum of 36 hours of the major and a minimum GPA of 3.5.

Graduates of the program can pursue careers in:
