The English Language Preparatory Program is designed according to the highest scientific and international standards, following the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in designing its curriculum. The program is presented by the College of Languages and Humanities, represented by the Department of English Language and Literature, in cooperation with the Institute of Studies and Consulting Services at the university.

Program Levels

The program is divided into five levels:

1. Level One: Focuses on basic skills, enabling the student to understand sentences and phrases used, communicate about routine tasks that require simple and direct exchange of information, and describe aspects of their life in simple phrases.
2. Level Two: Focuses on English language skills, in addition to skills that help the student during their academic study, enabling them to use the English language to facilitate their understanding of texts and deal with some situations that require communication in English.
3. Level Three: Focuses on English language skills, in addition to skills that help the student during their academic study, such as presentation skills and academic writing, enabling the student to produce a simple and clear text about familiar topics and interpret opinions and plans.
4. Level Four: Focuses on English language skills, in addition to skills that help the student during their academic study, such as presentation skills, academic writing, linguistic structure, and vocabulary, enabling the student to understand the main ideas of advanced texts and technical discussions in their field of specialization, and produce a clear and detailed text about a range of topics.
5. Level Five: Focuses on English language skills and several other skills acquired by the student, such as effective verbal skills, creative writing, and the use of creative writing methods.

Program Duration

The program consists of five levels, with an average of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks per level. The applicant is placed in the appropriate level based on a level determination test that relies on the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Program Completion

1. 20% of the total program grades are divided over semester works, monthly exams, assignments, and tasks.
2. After completing the program, students are evaluated through a standardized test accredited by the program (Oxford test).
3. Based on the student's result in the standardized test and their semester work grade, and considering the conditional grade in the targeted program, students wishing to join Qassim University's academic programs are either accepted or not.
4. After completing the program and performing the accredited standardized test, the student receives a certificate from Oxford University, in addition to a certificate from the Department of English Language and Literature at Qassim University.

Terms and Conditions

1. The applicant must be at least 16 years old.
2. Completing the program levels is determined according to the mechanism approved by the program, which includes the Oxford University standardized test and academic course grades.
3. The program tuition fees include the Oxford University level determination test, the program completion test (Oxford test), and textbooks.
4. The validity period of the program completion certificate for Qassim University's academic programs is two years.
5. When withdrawing before the start of study, the administrative fees are deducted, valued at 100 riyals.
6. When withdrawing in the first week of study, 50% of the tuition fees are deducted.
7. The applicant has no right to claim a refund of what they paid in fees when withdrawing after the first week of study.
8. The applicant is considered withdrawn from the program if they exceed the number of absent days (5 days) or if the absence percentage exceeds 20% of the total hours without presenting an acceptable excuse.
9. If the student is deprived, paragraph (7) of the terms and conditions is applied.
10. The program follows Qassim University's academic calendar regarding official and extended holidays.
11. The terms and conditions adopted by Oxford University Press regarding the standardized test are applied.
12. The program administration has the right to postpone, cancel, or delete any program or level.
13. The program administration has the right to modify, add, or delete any of the program's terms and conditions without prior notice.
