Introduction to the Interior Design Program

The Interior Design program at Jouf University aims to prepare students to provide innovative, aesthetic, and sustainable interior design solutions, with a focus on research skills and community service. The program aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 in meeting the needs of the national labor market and achieving economic, social, and cultural development.

Program Structure

The Interior Design program is structured into various levels, each focusing on different aspects of interior design, from foundational courses to advanced and specialized topics.


Level 1

  • EDU 101 - University Life Skills: Develops cognitive and performative skills related to university life, including systems, regulations, and practical skills such as critical thinking, research skills, and communication.
  • MTH 101 - Introduction to Mathematics: Reviews basic mathematical concepts, including algebraic operations, equations, and inequalities, graphing, and an introduction to calculus.
  • CIS 101 - Computer Skills: Covers the components and functions of computers, input/output devices, memory, and types of computers, as well as an introduction to application software like MS-Word, MS-Excel, and databases.

Level 2

  • MTH 102 - Differential Calculus: Studies limits, continuity, derivatives, and their applications, including the study of functions, graphs, and models.
  • CIS 102 - Programming and Problem-Solving: Introduces problem-solving methods, algorithm design, basic data types, and control structures, using a programming language.
  • CHM 103 - Chemistry: A foundational course in chemistry covering matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and basic organic chemistry.

Level 3

  • PHS 101 - General Physics (1): Introduces the principles of physics, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and wave motion, with laboratory experiments.
  • ARB 100 - Linguistic Skills: Focuses on Arabic language skills, including reading, writing, and comprehension, with an emphasis on grammar and vocabulary.
  • IDE 131 - Art Appreciation: Explores the elements and principles of art, art movements, and the role of art in culture and society.
  • IDE 102 - Color Theory and Applications: Studies color theories, the psychological and physical effects of color, and their applications in interior design.
  • IDE 101 - Fundamentals of Interior Design: Introduces the principles, elements, and processes of interior design, including space planning, color, texture, and lighting.

Level 4

  • IDE 141 - Design Theories 1: Examines various design theories, including the history of design, design movements, and the impact of technology on design.
  • IDE 132 - Human Factors and Environmental Considerations 1: Studies human factors, ergonomics, and environmental considerations in design, including accessibility and sustainability.
  • ARB 102 - Writing Skills: Develops writing skills in Arabic, focusing on composition, style, and expression.
  • IDE 103 - Freehand Drawing: Develops skills in drawing and sketching, including perspective, proportion, and rendering techniques.
  • ISL 105 - Human Rights: Introduces the concept of human rights, their importance, and their application in various contexts.
