Program Overview

The Master's Program in Qur'an and Its Sciences was officially launched in the Department of Islamic Studies at the College of Education. Program Objectives

  1. To prepare academically and professionally distinguished cadres in the Qur'an and its Sciences who can meet the needs of society.
  2. To promote scholarly research and studies related to the Qur'an and its Sciences.
  3. To enable students to pursue advanced specialized studies in Islamic sciences.
  4. To develop students' intellectual abilities and critical and creative thinking skills, grounded in analysis, deduction, reasoning, and scientific research methodologies in the field of the Qur'an and its Sciences.
  5. To promote Islamic values derived from the Qur'an and its Sciences, and to foster responsible citizenship in service of societal issues.
  6. To qualify graduates to pursue higher studies in specialized fields.

  • Working as a university professor in higher education or as a teacher in general education.
  • Conducting research and oversight roles in Sharia-based institutions.
  • Employment in administrative positions and Sharia courts.
  • Serving as an investigator at the Public Prosecution Office.

  • Providing Sharia consultation services in governmental, private, and non-profit sectors.

Admission Requirements

  1. The applicant must be Saudi or hold an official postgraduate scholarship if they are non-Saudi.
  2. Must have obtained a bachelor's degree from a Saudi university or a recognized foreign university in Islamic Theology (Usul al-Din) or Sharia, or an equivalent specialization.
  3. Must have good conduct and behavior and be medically fit.
  4. Must provide two academic recommendations from professors who have previously taught them.
  5. If employed, the applicant must obtain approval from their employer.
  6. Must have obtained at least a "Very Good" GPA in their undergraduate studies. However, the Graduate Studies Council may accept applicants with a "Good" GPA, provided their GPA in specialized courses is at least "Very Good".
  7. Must pass the aptitude test required for admission.
  8. Must have memorized five sections (Juz') of the Qur'an (as determined by the department).
  9. Must pass the personal interview conducted by the department.
  10. Admission criteria weight distribution:
    • 40% - Aptitude test score.
    • 60% - Bachelor's GPA.
