Program Overview

The Department of Islamic Studies at Majmaah University was established in 1430 AH, corresponding to August 24, 2009, by Royal Decree No. (7305 / M B). Initially, it was part of the College of Education, but in 1445 AH, it joined the College of Sharia and Law in Al-Ghat. The department offers several original tracks in Islamic studies, including:


  • Quran and its sciences
  • Hadith and its sciences
  • Creed
  • Islamic Da'wah and culture

The department has a team of experienced faculty members in all Sharia specialties related to the aforementioned tracks. It also has three master's programs for accepting students:


  • Master's program in Quran and its sciences
  • Master's program in Hadith and its sciences
  • Master's program in Creed

Program Objectives

The objectives of the Islamic Studies program are to:


  • Serve the community and preserve the religious and national identity
  • Instill the correct moderate Islamic curriculum
  • Enable students to acquire Sharia knowledge
  • Develop students' scientific skills based on analysis, inference, and research methodologies
  • Enhance Islamic values and good citizenship to serve community issues
  • Qualify Sharia competencies to meet the needs of society in accordance with quality standards
  • Contribute to meeting the regional community's needs by preparing specialists in Sharia knowledge from scholarship students
  • Prepare graduates to complete their higher studies in specialization fields

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Islamic Studies program can pursue various career paths, including:


  • Teaching positions in general or university education (teacher, assistant, lecturer, university professor)
  • Positions in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Da'wah, and Guidance (preacher)
  • Positions in courts (judge, judge's assistant, clerk, notary)
  • Positions in the General Authority for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (center director, religious guide)
  • Positions in the Public Prosecution (investigator, investigator's assistant)
  • Administrative positions in the public and private sectors
  • Positions in military and security sectors (guide)

Admission Requirements

The College of Sharia and Law Council determines the number of students who can be accepted into each department based on the comprehensive development plan of the Kingdom. To be accepted into the program, students must:


  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent from within or outside the Kingdom
  • Have a minimum grade of 65% in high school
  • Meet the general admission requirements of Majmaah University, which include:
    • Being of good conduct and behavior
    • Being physically fit and passing any required medical tests or personal interviews
    • Obtaining approval from their employer, if applicable
    • Meeting any additional requirements set by the University Council
