Program Overview


Introduction to the Electronic Journalism and Publishing Program

The Department of Journalism and Media was established based on the ministerial decision No. 60/A, dated 6/1/1430 AH, which included the establishment of the Department of Journalism and Media within the College of Arts and Humanities. The Department of Journalism and Media started with one program, namely the Journalism and Media program. Then, three new programs were approved by the Minister of Education for the fourth university council for the academic year 1439/1440 AH, held on 20/7/1440 AH, corresponding to 27/3/2019, which included the approval of the proposed plan for the Department of Journalism and Media's undergraduate programs. These programs are: Electronic Journalism and Publishing, Radio and Television, and Public Relations and Advertising.


Program Overview

The Electronic Journalism and Publishing program is considered an improvement plan for the previous Journalism and Media program. After the university's restructuring in the academic year 2024, the Department of Journalism and Media was abolished, and the Electronic Journalism and Publishing program was transferred to the Department of Social Sciences at the College of Arts and Humanities.

The program is located at the College of Arts and Humanities (University City - male students) and the Academic Complex for female students in Jazan 2.

To achieve excellence and innovation in academic and professional fields to qualify graduates for the job market in the field of electronic journalism and publishing, in line with national objectives, and to enhance the building of a vibrant communication community.


Program Objectives

  1. Prepare specialized competencies with knowledge and professional skills in the field of electronic journalism and publishing.
  2. Provide competencies that have the ability to research, conclude, monitor, and analyze communication phenomena in the field of electronic journalism and publishing.
  3. Establish the principles of citizenship and enhance community responsibility to build a vibrant communication community in the field of electronic journalism and publishing.
