MATH-2012: Probability & Statistics

Description This course covers the principal concepts in statistics and probability. Topics in probability include discrete random variables and probability distributions, continuous random variables and probability distributions. Topics in statistics include random sampling and data, point estimation of parameters, statistical intervals for a single sample, and tests of hypotheses for a single sample, correlation and regression. The course will include the use of one of the following software packages (Excel or Jamovi) for implementation. In addition, the course is designed to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Lecture 3 hours/week, Tutorial 1hr/week. Pre-requisite: MATH1010.
