Program Overview


Master's Degree Program in Pedodontics

The post-graduate program in Pediatric Dentistry is developed to provide dentists with the skill and knowledge to efficiently deliver comprehensive oral health care for children and adolescents. This program also includes care for children beyond the age of adolescence who demonstrate physical, mental, and emotional problems.


Program Goals

The program addresses the following areas: the guidance of human behavior, diagnosis, preventive, operative, endodontic, and prosthodontic measures for infants, children, teenagers, and medically compromised individuals. The program is expanded to include the management of related oral surgery, growth, and development problems recognized to be within the realm of pediatric dentistry.


Program Objectives

At the end of this program, the graduate student will gain the highest professional knowledge relevant to the science and practice of pediatric dentistry, as well as the clinical experience that enables them to accomplish the following tasks:


  • Provide the child community with efficient and superior comprehensive oral health care.
  • Participate efficiently in judgment and decision-making in the dynamic health care system.
  • Establish a preventively oriented dental practice at the individual and community levels.
  • Develop research expertise that enables them to conduct independent scientific research.
  • Meet the challenge of continual advancement of the profession through participation in continuing education that helps in their professional maturation.

Program Structure

This program will run as a yearly program for three academic years of full-time formal training. It will normally commence in September and end by June of the third academic year of the University. The program is designed to consist of the following parts:


  1. Biodental and Biomedical Courses (i.e., The Core Course)
  2. Specialty Courses
  3. Advanced Specialty Courses
  4. Research leading to Thesis
