Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design

The Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design program at the American University in the Emirates offers students a comprehensive education in fashion design, preparing them for a successful career in the fashion industry. The program focuses on developing students' creative and technical skills, as well as their understanding of the fashion industry and its trends.

Program Description

The program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of fashion design principles, including color theory, textile science, and garment construction. Students will learn about the fashion design cycle, from trend research to production, and will develop their skills in drawing, draping, and pattern making. The program also covers the business aspects of the fashion industry, including fashion management, marketing, and merchandising.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, undergraduate students must satisfy the following requirements:

• Earn a minimum CGPA of 2.00 on a scale of 4.00.
• Successfully complete all courses as described in the study plan.
• The Degree Completion requirements must be met within the timeframe of the program.
• Transfer students must successfully earn a minimum of 50% of the course credits for the program at AUE.

Accreditation

The American University in the Emirates is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education Commission for Academic Accreditation.

Tuition Fees

The yearly tuition fees for the Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design program are AED 58,000/USD 15,793, inclusive of 5% VAT, excluding service fees. Note that yearly fees will vary depending on the number of courses enrolled.

Prior to enrollment in the program, students may be required to take preparatory courses, including:

1. Computer Preparatory (CIT 90): 0 credit hours
2. Drawing Preparatory (DES 90): 0 credit hours
3. Academic Writing (ENG 99): 0 credit hours

Duration

The program duration is 4 years.

Enrollment

Students can join the program at the beginning of any semester, with a minimum of 3 courses (9 credit hours) and a maximum of 6 courses (18 credit hours) per semester.
