Introduction to the BITS PILANI GOA SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM (BGSRP) 2026
The BITS PILANI GOA SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM (BGSRP) 2026 is a summer internship program conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. The program aims to provide a platform for young academic talents, scholars, and researchers from reputed academic institutions to interact with scientists and engineers on campus.
About BITS Pilani Goa Campus
BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, is an Institute of Eminence in Technology and Sciences, conducting cutting-edge research in various areas, including Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Objectives of the Program
The objectives of the BGSRP are:
- To allow young academic talent to be associated with BITS Pilani scientists for mutual learning benefit.
- To provide exposure to the Research Institute's functioning and its established ability to apply theory into practice, facilitating the young talents to choose a career path.
Eligibility Criteria
The following candidates are eligible to apply for the Internship Scheme:
- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- The candidate should be pursuing UG / PG from a recognized University/Institution (India/Abroad).
- The candidates who have just completed UG/PG from a recognized University / Institution, seeking an internship opportunity (within six months from the date of award of degree) for profile enhancement.
- The candidate should possess an aggregate of minimum 60% or a CGPA of 6.32 on a scale of 10 at all levels.
- The disciplines/departments from which the applications are encouraged are Engineering (CS&IS, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering), Sciences (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), Humanities & Social Sciences, Economics, and Finance, and related subjects.
Application Process
- Applications are invited from academically outstanding and highly motivated graduate and postgraduate students of Indian Nationality for the Summer Internship Program.
- The application process involves submitting an online application form, arranging a bonafide certificate from the college principal/Head of the department/Institute director, and uploading it while submitting the application online.
- A Letter of Recommendation from the HOD or teacher is also required.
Duration and Project Work
- The duration of the BGSRP will be from the 1st week of June 2026 to the 3rd week of July 2026.
- The selected participants will work on a specific project with a faculty member of the Institute.
Important Dates
- Last date of receiving the BGSRP applications (via online form) from the candidates: TBA
- The LOR can be sent by the HOD/Dean/Principal or teacher at the email address on or before TBA.
- List of selected candidates will be uploaded on the BGSRP website by TBA.
- Selected candidates need to report to the BITS Goa campus in the 1st week of June 2026.
General Instructions
- The final selection right lies with the concerned faculty member, subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria and the project requirement.
- The selected applicants will report to the Heads of Departments of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus.
- At the end of the internship, the student will be required to submit a project report and deliver a presentation in the department.
- The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will forward a soft copy of the Project report duly certified by the Project Guide to BGSRP Program Coordinator, BITS Goa Campus.
- Student cannot publish/use the results from the project work without the written permission of the project guide at BITS Goa campus.
- The accommodation in the student's hostel will be made by the Student Welfare Division (SWD) during the period of the BGSRP program on a payment basis.
- The SWD will provide temporary Identity cards to the students selected for the BGSRP program.
- BITS Goa mess facilities can be availed on a payment basis as per applicable rates from time to time.
- The training at BITS Goa will NOT cover expenses towards Medical and Transport.
- No financial support (i.e., honorarium) will be provided to the selected students.
- Students will have to take prior permission, in case of absence, if any, during the entire project duration.
- Students will abide by the rules and regulations of the BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus.
- A certificate will be issued at the end of the training, subject to delivering a final seminar at BITS Goa and receiving an endorsement from the project supervisor.
- Evaluation at BITS Goa cannot be used as an assessment to be carried out by the college/University towards the fulfillment of granting the degree.
- No article(s) resulting from the work carried out in BITS Goa as a part of the project training can be submitted in Technology-fest/Conferences/Seminars/Journal without the written permission of the Project Supervisor of BITS Goa.
