Program Overview

Overview of the Applied Bachelor in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Programme

The Applied Bachelor in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge required to succeed in the aviation industry. This programme leads to a bachelor's degree and also gives students the opportunity to earn internationally recognised licences from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Programme Details

  • Duration: 4.5 years
  • Mode of Study: Full-time for the first 2.5 years, followed by 2 years of part-time study and Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) training.
  • Intake Months: August and January
  • Dual Pathway: Earn a bachelor's degree while working towards GCAA and EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licences.
  • Real-World Experience: Complete 2 years of Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) with a certified maintenance organisation, including the opportunity to train with Emirates Airline.
  • International Recognition: The programme is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE, EASA, and GCAA.

Programme Structure

The programme is divided into two key phases:

  1. Phase 1: Full-Time Study on Campus (2.5 Years)
    • Study full-time at Emirates Aviation University.
    • Complete core academic modules and theoretical training required for both the bachelor's degree and the GCAA/EASA (B1.1 and B1.2) licence.
    • Gain hands-on practical experience in workshops and labs.
  2. Phase 2: Practical Experience and Part-Time Study (2 Years)
    • Transition into full-time Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) training with a certified maintenance organisation.
    • Continue bachelor's degree modules on a part-time block mode basis to complete academic requirements for graduation.

Modules and Assessment

  • Modules: Include Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electrical Fundamentals, Basic Aerodynamics, and more.
  • Assessment: Based on coursework (in-class assessments, written assignments) and/or final exams.

Programme Fees

  • Tuition Fees 1: AED 98,000.00 per annum for the first 2.5 years.
  • Tuition Fees 2: AED 55,000.00 per annum for the remaining 2 years.

What to Expect

  • High Job Demand: The international market has a sizable shortage of Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
  • Higher Education Opportunities: The degree allows for direct application to master's programmes without needing additional work experience after obtaining the licence.
  • Globally Recognised Qualification: Accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE, EASA, and GCAA.

Future Career Opportunities

Graduates are well-prepared for roles as Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers in EASA and GCAA approved airlines and maintenance organisations worldwide. They also have the academic foundation to move into technical engineering roles or pursue further studies in aviation, engineering, and management.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

APL entrants who hold the Advanced Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering certificate can proceed to continue their studies towards the degree of Applied Bachelor in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, completing the last two years of the programme on a part-time basis.
