Clinical Surgical Training Center

Core Skills in Minimally Invasive Surgery

  • Admission criteria: Residents, trainees, interns, surgeons.
  • Course fees: 3000 AED + 5% VAT.
  • Course overview: This intensive course covers core laparoscopic surgery skills and knowledge essential for every surgery discipline.
  • Aim of the program: To provide theoretical updates in the most recent developments in laparoscopy and extensive experimental sessions using animal organs and live animals for each surgical procedure step by step.
  • Topics include:
    • Setting up a stock, correctly connecting a light source, and gaining a good quality image.
    • Identifying means of access and outlining patient positioning.
    • Discussing and anticipating a range of complications and how to deal with them.
    • Performing key laparoscopic surgery procedures.
    • Discussing the use of laparoscopy in diagnosis.
    • Evaluating the use of various energy sources.
    • Demonstrating a wide range of knowledge in laparoscopic surgery and operative procedures, including appendicectomy, cholecystectomy, and ventral hernia repair.
  • What is unique in this program:
    • Hands-on experience on animal organs and live animals.
    • Highly experienced faculty, including Dr. Jagpreet Singh Deed, FACS(ED), FACS, MS, DNB (General Surgery), with experience in laparoscopy training and fellowships in endosurgery and robotic endosurgery.
