The Clinical Surgical Training Center offers a comprehensive program in Hands on Thoracoscopic Pediatric Surgery.

Introduction

Thoracoscopic Video Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery has become an integral part of operative management in virtually every realm of newborn and pediatric surgery over the last two decades. The UAE Pediatric Surgery Society, Gulf endoscopic pediatric surgery & urology group, in collaboration with the Clinical and Surgical Training Center, is dedicated to advancing training in Thoracoscopic Pediatric Minimal Invasive Surgery to ensure the safe performance of such operations.

Course Outcomes

The course will provide a theoretical update on the most recent thoracoscopic developments in neonatal and pediatric endoscopy and an intensive experimental session (hands-on session) using small animals for each surgical procedure step by step. Topics include:

• Ergonomics and installation
• Introduction and positioning of trocars
• Creation of a working space in the chest
• Instruments and energy devices
• Lung surgery, Lobectomy, Esophageal Surgery, Sympathectomy
• Diaphragmatic Hernia Repair and Tracheole
