Master of Science in Medical Diagnostic Imaging

The Master of Science in Medical Diagnostic Imaging program offers dedicated courses and clinical training to provide healthcare specialists with knowledge and skills to cover broad areas in advanced diagnostic imaging technologies leading to improved patient care in both diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Course Descriptions

Compulsory Courses

  1. Advanced Physics and Instrumentation of Ultrasound: Provides advanced physics background of Ultrasound Imaging, benefiting postgraduate students in deepening their understanding of USI physics in medical imaging.
  2. Advanced Physics and Instrumentation of CT & MRI: Offers necessary advanced physics background of CT and MRI, covering instrumentations and hardware components at an advanced level.
  3. Statistics and Data Analysis: Introduces statistical methods for data analysis, including data collection, exploratory data analysis, and formal modeling of data.
  4. Seminar and Research Methods: Develops students' ability to critically understand and conceptualize the research process within health and social care contexts.
  5. Innovation and Change Management in Medical Imaging Practices: Enhances students' soft skills, including teamwork, advanced communication, leadership, and change management, within medical imaging practices.
  6. Advanced Ultrasound Clinical Practice: Introduces and advances students' clinical skills in Ultrasound, including patient preparation, scanning, and differentiation between pathological appearances and normal anatomy variations.
  7. Advanced CT & MRI Clinical Practice: Introduces and advances students' clinical skills in CT and MRI, including patient preparation, protocol selection, image reconstruction, and differentiation between pathological appearances and normal anatomy variations.
  8. Thesis in Ultrasound and Thesis in CT & MRI: Objective is for students to conduct a thesis research project, completing their Master's program experiences and certifying their status as master practitioners.
  9. Abdominal and General Ultrasound: Prepares students for abdominal Sonography, including abdominal anatomy, physiology, patient care, and imaging/interventional techniques.
  10. Obstetric & Gynecological Ultrasound: Prepares students for gynecologic and obstetric ultrasound examinations, including fetal anatomy, physiology, patient care, and imaging/interventional techniques.
  11. Vascular Ultrasound: Provides detailed information on the application of duplex, pulsed wave, color, and power Doppler techniques in investigating the abdominal, intra and extra-cranial, and peripheral vasculature.
  12. Central Nervous System Imaging: Focuses on CT and MR imaging techniques used to visualize and diagnose various CNS disorders, providing a thorough understanding of CNS imaging methods and their usage in clinical settings.
  13. Cross-sectional Imaging of the Viscera: Aims to provide comprehensive knowledge of viscera cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI), focusing on the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis.
  14. Musculoskeletal System: Details the theoretical and practical considerations required to perform a basic musculoskeletal examination using computed tomography and magnetic resonance, with reference to the appendicular and axial system.

  5. Radiation Dose and Image Quality Control in CT: Discusses the advanced scientific principles and techniques of radiation dose and image quality control in CT examinations.
