Program Overview
The Defense and Security program is designed to prepare the next generation of military officers to be competent and knowledgeable leaders who possess professionalism and flexibility, and have the ability to defend the United Arab Emirates and its national interests.
Program Description
The program includes highly specialized and interdisciplinary courses in military leadership, critical thinking, ethical values, and joint combat. This qualification is of the highest level and is unique in the region. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, simulation exercises, and realistic scenario applications, students learn team leadership, professional ethics, strategic planning, inter-institutional operations, and national security readiness.
Educational Objectives
- Possess technical skills, knowledge, and capabilities to work as a manager in the safety, security, defense, and emergency management sector.
- Work, lead, and communicate effectively to achieve joint objectives.
- Apply ethical standards, procedures, and techniques necessary for gathering information, assessing risks, and implementing effective joint solutions between parties to build national readiness capabilities.
- Enhance perception and critical thinking through advanced perception, memory, thinking, decision-making, and language skills.
- Expand knowledge and capabilities through continuous education or other lifelong learning opportunities.
- Fulfill civic duties and responsibilities through local, national, or international service.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain major events and strategic theories that contributed to the historical development of military theory and practice.
- Apply effective military leadership principles to case studies and relevant scenarios of contemporary military conflicts.
- Evaluate major doctrinal and technological innovations that have impacted the structure, doctrine, and tactics of modern military forces.
- Evaluate a wide range of military and non-traditional security challenges, as well as national security challenges that affect the United Arab Emirates' national interests.
- Critique complex defense and security issues through written, oral, and audio-visual means.
