Bachelor of Biomedical Science Program

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Biomedical Science program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Attested High School Certificate and transcript (Grade 12 or Equivalent in each curriculum)
  • Attested School certificate and transcript for Grade 10 and 11
  • Equivalency Certificate from the Ministry of Education (MOE) for High School curriculums other than UAE system
  • Mandatory to meet the DMU College of Medicine Admission Placement Exam (includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics)
  • Meet requirements of BBMS Interview

English Language Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following English language requirements:


  • Secondary High School English Language Score 85%
  • TOEFL iBT with minimum score of 71 (Institutional TOEFL is not accepted; a score of 91 is preferred)
  • Academic IELTS with minimum Band of 5.5 (Preferred overall band is 6.5)
  • Applicants will be required to complete a remedial course at the university
  • English Placement Test at the University level is available for students who do not meet the English Language Requirements

Admission Criteria Per Curriculum

The admission criteria for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science program vary depending on the curriculum:


The UAE Curriculum

  • Applicant must achieve in grade 12: Elite/Advanced & ATHS Stream: minimum overall average 70%

The British Curriculum

  • A minimum grade of C or 4 in five O-Level subjects including Mathematics, English, Biology & Chemistry
  • A minimum grade of D or 3 in two AS-Level subjects Biology & Chemistry OR
  • A minimum grade of D or 3 in one A-level Biology or Chemistry

The American Curriculum or SABIS Curriculum

  • Applicants must pass successfully in Grade 12 with a minimum average of 70% overall or CGPA 2.5 on a scale of 4 or equivalent

The International Baccalaureate Curriculum (IB Diploma)

  • Applicants must achieve an IB Diploma and 3 in any 2 science subjects

IB Subject Certificate

  • Applicants must achieve an overall 21 points with a minimum grade of 3 points each
  • Applicant must complete English Language, Mathematics and one Science subject

Indian Curriculum

  • Applicants must achieve a minimum average of 60% in grade 12

Pakistani Federal Board

  • Applicants must achieve a minimum average of 60% in grade 12

Additional Information for Other Curriculums and Secondary School Qualifications Obtained Outside UAE

Applicants from other curriculums and with high school certificates obtained outside the UAE may be required to submit an Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Education Services (WES) course-by-course evaluation. The applicant should be a graduate from a school recognized by the official education authority in the country of study. Must meet the requirements for admission into university in the country of origin. The applicant must complete Grade 12 of education in school. Certificates submitted need to be attested from the Education Authority (Home Country), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Home Country), Embassy of the United Arab Emirates or the Embassy of the Country in the UAE, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. Applicants must submit Equivalency Certificate from Ministry of Education in UAE.
