High School Programs

The school also offers high school programs, which provide college-level artistic training in New York City and online. These intensive and enriching courses are taught by Tisch undergraduate faculty.


J-Term/Spring/Summer

Visiting students and non-majors are invited to take classes during January Term, Spring at Tisch, and Summer. Earn credits towards your major or minor, build your résumé with an internship, or take classes to change careers.


Tisch Pro/Online

Tisch Pro/Online Courses are non-credit
on-degree courses that provide professional training in various artistic industries. Build your creative skillset with an online course or join us in New York City.


Study Abroad

Experience the world in a whole new way. Our short-term and semester-long study abroad programs are specially designed to draw on the artistic strengths of our global partners and incorporate the rich history, techniques, and traditions of each country.


Special Programs

The Office of Special Programs at Tisch School of the Arts provides access to the arts. Whether you're an NYU or visiting college student, high school student, or working professional, we provide you with introductory exposure to the performing or cinematic arts and advanced-level training to grow your craft.


Student Affairs

The Tisch Office of Student Affairs comprises 20 professionals on a mission to provide you with the support you need to find meaningful community and success as artists and scholars during your time at Tisch and beyond.


Research

The Initiative supports and highlights research in all modalities, present and imagined - encouraging curiosity, investigation, and entrepreneurism, through advocacy, grant planning, mentorship, and funding opportunities.

Graduate Film Program

The Graduate Film Program at Tisch School of the Arts is a highly competitive program that requires a creative portfolio as part of the application process.


Portfolio Requirements for MFA in Film Production

To apply for the MFA in Film Production, you must submit a five-part creative portfolio, which includes:


  1. Visual Submission: Sample(s) of your work presented visually. Material done in collaboration with other artists is acceptable provided you were the major creative force.
  2. Video Self-Portrait: Upload a 1-2 minute self-portrait video where you show and tell us about yourself.
  3. Written Submissions: You must submit all of the following:
  • Dramatic Story: A two-page story using one of the provided themes.
  • Short Scene: A two-page cinematic scene between two people that reveals something about the characters.
  • Concept: Describe one concept for a feature-length script, narrative film, or documentary that you would like to develop.
  • Resume & Statement of Purpose: Upload copies of your resume and statement of purpose.

Application Process

The application for admission must be submitted online by December 1st, along with the required academic documentation, recommendations, and supporting credentials. The creative portfolio must be uploaded via SlideRoom on or before December 1st.
