Introduction to the Internal Medicine Residency at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk

The Internal Medicine Residency at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk offers a comprehensive training program for residents, providing invaluable clinical, didactic, and research experience. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is part of NYU Langone Health, one of the nation's premier academic medical centers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a supportive environment where residents develop into well-rounded, confident internists prepared for any career path, whether in general internal medicine or in subspecialty medicine.

Program Overview

As the primary healthcare provider on the South Shore of Eastern Long Island, we care for a diverse patient population in a state-of-the-art community hospital that has a certified trauma center, a stroke center, and an active cardiac catheterization program. Our internal medicine residents gain hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including our busy ambulatory care practice, which has more than 12,000 visits per year.

Education and Curriculum

Education is at the core of our program. Our faculty consists of dedicated educators committed to evidence-based, patient-centered care. We emphasize mentorship, research, and quality improvement, ensuring our residents have the resources they need to succeed. Our curriculum follows a "4+1" format, balancing inpatient and ambulatory experiences, while allowing time for scholarly activities and resident wellness.

We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applications to our residency program are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
