Introduction to the GIFTED Program

The Ghanaian Institute for the Future of Teaching and Education (GIFTED) offers a Women's Fellowship Program aimed at strengthening the leadership capacity and visibility of women in education within the Ghanaian education system. The program's mission is to empower GIFTED Fellows to produce systemic change in local schools and at the regional education office level.

Program Overview

The GIFTED curriculum is designed to provide leadership skills, promoting GIFTED Fellows to actively participate in decision-making processes, act as role models for other women and girls, and mentor other women. The program provides professional development, ongoing support, and leadership training to cohorts of 12 women in education.

Program Structure

  • Teachers who are selected for this fellowship program participate in a year-long transformational leadership curriculum.
  • They develop and implement action projects that support education outcomes in their schools.
  • Following their fellowship year, Fellows join the GIFTED Fostering Program, which provides a support structure for ongoing sustainability.
