Program Overview
Introduction to the Integrated Fellowship
The Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care at NYU Langone Health offers a comprehensive two-year Integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program. This program is designed to provide fellows with the skills and knowledge necessary to care for older adults with serious and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.
Program Accreditation and Affiliation
Our program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is affiliated with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Clinical Training
Fellows in our program participate in clinical rotations at various sites, including:
- NYU Langone's Tisch Hospital
- Kimmel Pavilion
- NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue
- VA NY Harbor Healthcare System
- NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur
Didactic Training
In addition to clinical training, fellows participate in a comprehensive didactic program that includes:
- Weekly geriatric medicine and palliative care conferences
- Journal club
- Core conferences Fellows also have the opportunity to attend national and international conferences in the field of geriatrics and palliative care.
Research Opportunities
Fellows have the opportunity to engage in research projects with faculty members in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care, as well as with other departments and divisions at NYU Langone Health.
Eligibility Requirements
Incoming fellows are required to complete three years of internal medicine or family medicine residency training at an accredited program within the United States before the start of their fellowship.
- NYU Langone does not offer H-1B sponsorship for house staff, residents, or fellows.
- J-1 sponsorship is available through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
- A New York State medical license must be obtained before beginning the fellowship.
Application Process
We accept two fellows per year into the two-year Integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program.
- Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- The ERAS application season begins in early June, and fellowship candidates can submit applications to us in early July.
- We begin reviewing applications on July 15 and invite applicants to interview on a rolling basis.
As a candidate on your interview day, you can expect to:
- Tour our facilities
- Meet our program director, program faculty, and current trainees
- Share your background, skills, motivation to pursue fellowship, and future goals with us through a series of interviews
Selection Criteria
Eligible candidates are selected based on their:
- Preparedness
- Ability
- Aptitude
- Academic credentials
- Communication skills

Matching Program
All of the fellowships in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care participate in the Medical Specialties Matching Program through the National Resident Matching Program.
