Introduction to LMU Research Fellowships

The LMU Research Fellowships are designed for outstanding postdoctoral researchers from all fields of research. The program, supported by the European Commission's Marie Skodowska-Curie COFUND Action since 2017, aims to sharpen the academic profile of fellows by supporting their own two-year research project.

Program Details

• Mobility and Networking: The program promotes mobility and networking with international partner institutions through research stays or collaborations.
• Incoming Fellowships: These fellowships are for outstanding international early-career researchers.
• Outgoing Fellowships: Awarded to excellent postdoctoral researchers who have completed their doctorates in the last twelve months or are about to do so.

Benefits and Outcomes

• Membership: LMU Research Fellows are members of the Young Center of the LMU Center for Advanced Studies.
• Success Stories: Since the program's inception in 2009, 74 excellent junior academics have been funded, with 46 coming from institutions abroad, and 45% being women. Almost all former fellows have remained in academia, securing attractive positions at renowned institutions, including professorships.
