The Design Workshop 1 (DW1) is a university program offered by the Department for Informatics. The program is suitable for students of Media Informatics (Master) Human-Computer Interaction.

Program Structure

The program consists of two parts:

• Media art - new artistic expressions in the digital age

DW1 - Basics of Industrial Design

Lecture

• Location: Arcisstraße 21, building 7, entrance 17, seminar room -1730 (basement)
• Dates: Monday 09:45 am - 11:15 am (starting October 23, 2017)

Tutorial

• The tutorial will take place in blocks, with exact dates to be announced.

Grade

• The event "Basics of Industrial Design" (lecture + exercise) is offered by the TUM and recognized as Design Workshop 1 for Master students in the MCI Master.

Media art - new artistic expressions in the digital age

Lecture

• Location: Main Building, Room B 006
• Dates: Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (c.t., starting October 18, 2017)

Exam (Basics of Industrial Design)

The contents of the lecture will be individually tested in the Industrial Design module with a written exam. The group work (exercise) will be tested with a ten-minute presentation on the group work and a written documentation of the slides (usually no more than 4-5 pages). Both performances together are worth 6 ECTS. A partial exam alone cannot be recognized.

• Date: The dates for the oral presentations on the exercise will be announced in the course.

Exam

• Date: February 19, 2018, 9:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m
• Room: Central campus (TUM), building 0501 institute building, 1st floor, lecture hall 1180 (TUM)
• Registration deadline: January 29, 2018 (via UniWorX)
• Deregistration deadline: February 5, 2018
• Please note that only registered students can participate in the exam. It is essential to bring a valid photo ID to the exam.
