Vorlesung Multimedia im Netz

The Vorlesung Multimedia im Netz is a lecture series that focuses on multimedia services over data networks. The course assumes prior knowledge of basic network technologies and delves into the creation of interactive web offerings, content-related base technologies, and multimedia applications and services.

Recent updates and announcements regarding the course include:

• 16.03: A makeup exam will be held on Monday, 12.04, from 14-16 Uhr in room A125.
• 08.03: Certificates can be picked up from the secretariat.
• 25.02: An exam review will take place on 1. März in room 506, Amalienstraße.
• 15.02: Exam registration has ended. Students with last names starting from A to L will write the exam in room B101, and those from M to Z in room B201.
• 21.01: The exam will be an open-book exam. Further details are available in a provided PDF.
• 19.01: Registration for the exam via UniWorx is open until 15.02.
• 02.12: The exam will take place on Wednesday, 17. Februar, from 16-18 Uhr in the main building, rooms B101 and B201.
• 26.10: The podcast format for the lecture has been changed from QuickTime to MPEG-4 for better compatibility with mobile devices.

Inhalt

The lecture covers the following areas:

• Grundlagen der Erstellung interaktiver Webangebote: Medieneinbettung in Webseiten, Serverseitige Interaktivität, Web Services, Mashups
• Inhaltsbezogene Basistechnologien: Weitere Technologien, die zur Speicherung, Übertragung und Verarbeitung von Multimedia-Daten im Netz notwendig sind, insbesondere Sicherheitsfragen, Rechtemanagement, Abrechnung und Bezahlung
• Multimediale Anwendungen und Dienste: Dienste zur individuellen Kommunikation (z.B. IP-Telefonie, Videokonferenz-Technik, Collaborative Media) und zur Massenkommunikation (z.B. WebRadio, WebTV)

Einordnung in die Studiengänge

• For students of Medieninformatik (Diplom, Bachelor) or Informatik (Diplom, Bachelor) with prior knowledge in Medieninformatik: Counts as exam material or compulsory course for Bachelor students as "Vertiefende Themen".
• For Medieninformatik students in the minor field (Bachelor "Kunst und Multimedia"): Compulsory course in the 5th semester.
• For Informatik students in the minor field to Magister: Counts as exam material.
