Proseminar Media Informatics

The Proseminar Media Informatics is a seminar offered by the Department of Informatics.


Lecturers and In Charge

The lecturers for this seminar are Prof. Dr. Hu羥ann, Prof. Dr. Schmidt, and Prof. Dr. Mayer. The individuals in charge are Jingyi Li, Francesco Chiossi, Sophia Sakel, Kai Holl鄚der, Carl Oechsner, Bettina Eska, Julian Rasch, Florian Lang, Jacob Karolus, and Jesse Grootjen.

The seminar takes place via Zoom. The schedule includes the following dates:


  • 21.10.2021: Kick-Off & Introduction
  • 09.11.2021: Submission of slides for 90-seconds pitches
  • 11.11.2021: 90-sec Pitches - Short Presentation of your topics
  • 04.02.2022: Submission of final paper
  • 09.02.2022: Submission of final presentation
  • 11.02.2022: Final presentations

The groups are divided as follows:

  • Group 2: Florian Lang, Jacob Karolus, Jesse Grootjen (Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Schmidt)

Contents

The seminar aims to convey and promote the basics of research, documentation, and presentation of scientific work. Students will present the state of research and current developments in sub-areas of human-machine interaction. Attendance is compulsory for all lecture dates. The lecture course is suitable for Media Informatics students (Bachelor).


Topics

Each supervisor will supply 10 topics from their general topic direction. The topics include:

  • Personal Informatics & Mobile Sensing
  • Digitizing Human-AV interaction
  • Human-Robot Interaction
  • Technology for Well-Being
  • VR and AR as Assistive Technology for people with visual impairment
  • Physiological Sensing and Adaptive Interfaces - A User-Centered Reflection Approach
  • Implicit Detection of Visual Impairments using Eye Tracking

Rules for Online Teaching

While the university is closed, most teaching happens online. The rules for online teaching include:


  • In live meetings, participants are asked to responsibly deal with audio and bandwidth.
  • Recording or redirecting streams by participants is not allowed.
  • Distributing content in other channels than those foreseen by the author is not allowed. If these rules are violated, participants can expect to be expelled from the course, and further action may be taken.
