Program Overview

Pós-Graduaçăo em Biologia Vegetal da UNICAMP

The Pós-Graduaçăo em Biologia Vegetal da UNICAMP program was founded in 1977 with the objective of providing a multidisciplinary and updated formation, aiming at the formation of high-level scientists in the area of plant biology and improvement for teaching in higher education.

Nota CAPES 6

The program received a concept A in the first evaluations of CAPES and, since the implementation of the scale of notes 1 to 7, the program was classified as note 6. In the 2017 evaluation, it received the maximum concept (note 7). Currently, the program has a note 6 (quadrennium).

Mission and Objectives

Our Mission

Our mission is to capacitate masters and doctors to act in the generation of scientific and technological knowledge of excellence and in decision-making in the area of plant biology and in higher education formation.

Our Objectives

  • Develop critical thinking and intellectual autonomy
  • Capacitate professionals in the elaboration of scientific questions, in the testing of hypotheses, in data analysis, and in scientific communication in an oral and written form
  • Present theoretical foundations of the main areas of action of the program, aligned with the frontiers of knowledge in plant biology
  • Promote international insertion through teaching and research activities of teachers and students
  • Leverage the capacity of extension of scientific knowledge to society
  • Apply the knowledge generated by the scientific community in applied activities

Research Areas

The program has several research areas, including:

  • Biologia Molecular, Bioquímica e Fisiologia Vegetal
  • Interaçăo Planta-Ambiente e Fisiologia da Produçăo Vegetal
  • Ecologia de Ecossistemas, Comunidades e Populaçőes
  • Ecologia Evolutiva
  • Sistemática e Macroevoluçăo
  • Anatomia, Morfologia e Desenvolvimento

What We Expect from Candidates

  1. Produce high-quality scientific knowledge in plant biology with international insertion;
  2. Form a new generation of scientists through the implementation of excellence research lines, in national or international research institutions;
  3. Apply the knowledge and skills acquired in applied activities.

Program Description

The program aims to provide a comprehensive education in plant biology, covering various aspects of the field, including molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, ecology, and systematics. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in research, teaching, and applied fields, and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in plant biology.
