Introduction to the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program
The Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at OHSU is a rigorous and challenging training experience that aims to provide fellows with a comprehensive foundation in pediatric cardiology. The program is committed to nurturing personal well-being and helping fellows achieve their ideal position following graduation.

The program aims to:
- Develop outstanding clinical pediatric cardiologists
- Provide a rigorous scholarly experience preparing graduates for a fulfilling academic career
- Train future leaders in Pediatric Cardiology
- Capitalize on unique aspects of OHSU to enrich the training experience and teach unique skills
- Provide a rigorous training experience while nurturing personal well-being

- Four weeks of vacation per year

Curriculum
The pediatric cardiology fellowship program is structured to provide a challenging and rigorous training experience. The curriculum includes:
- Clinical training with approximately 24 months of clinical rotations and a minimum of 12 months of research experience
- Didactic teaching and clinical conferences, including weekly and monthly sessions
- Scholarly activity, including participation in a structured core curriculum and completion of at least one research project
Clinical Training
Clinical training includes:
- Rotation schedule with 26 two-week blocks per academic year
- Standard rotations, such as cardiology inpatient and consult service, echocardiography, and interventional cardiology
- Additional training environments, including the catheterization lab, cardiac MRI/CT, and obstetrics units
Didactic Teaching and Clinical Conferences
The program includes:
- Weekly conferences, such as Clinical Sign-in, Medical/Surgical Conference, and Pediatric Cardiology Fellows Didactic Teaching
- Monthly conferences, such as Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology Interventional Morbidity and Mortality Conference and Pediatric Cardiology Journal Club
Scholarly Activity
Fellows participate in:
- A structured core curriculum in scholarly activities
- Completion of at least one research project
- Presentation of research at regional or national conferences
Teaching Opportunities
Fellows work closely with pediatric residents and medical students, with opportunities for teaching at the bedside, in didactic sessions, and in ad-hoc teaching environments.
