Introduction to the MFA in Costume Technology and Design
The MFA in Theatre: Specialization in Costume Technology and Design at Louisiana State University provides a comprehensive foundation in costume construction techniques, design, rendering, and management skills. Requirements for Admission
To be considered for admission, potential applicants should first express their interest by contacting the program head prior to completing the Graduate School's online application. The requirements for admission include meeting the Graduate School's admission criteria. In addition to the online application, applicants must submit:
- A letter of intent
- A resume
- Three letters of recommendation
- A representative portfolio on CD or online website An on-site interview is mandatory for all applicants. Evaluation for admission is based on evidence of academic and practical achievement, as well as artistic promise, considering factors such as grade point average, portfolio review, letters of recommendation, and, where applicable, TOEFL scores.
Requirements for Graduation
The requirements for graduating from the MFA in Costume Technology and Design program include:
- Three consecutive years of residency
- Completion of 66 graduate credit hours
- Six credit hours in THTR 8000 (thesis research)
- A written thesis, including an oral defense of the work
