Program Description

The online Master of Science in Sport Management is designed to equip students with a broad skill set in sport-related organizational behavior and theory, problem-solving, finance, economics, social issues, and law. Topics covered in this degree include:

• Organization and management theory and techniques for administration of programs in educational and fitness settings
• Analysis of organizations in the sport industry using theoretical and practical applications
• Examination of the social construction of sport and the systemic issues connected to contemporary sport
• An in-depth examination of public and private financing options for professional, intercollegiate, interscholastic and recreational/commercial sport
• A study of legal issues affecting the delivery of sport services and liability in sport-related activities
• In-depth examination focusing on the economic issues of professional, intercollegiate, and recreational sport around the world

Admission Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university or the equivalent from a foreign institution
• GPA – 3.0 on all undergraduate work (or last half-degree) and a 3.0 on any graduate work already completed
• 3 letters of recommendation – one from employer – not friend/relative
• Statement of purpose- motivation to attend LSU Sport Management program, including personal and career goals, and your commitment to excellence
• GRE target score of 295 or GMAT target score of 560
• Official transcripts of all previous college or university work
• Professional resume
• Personal statement

GMAT/GRE Waiver

The admission policies of the School of Kinesiology provide a possible alternative to the GRE/GMAT requirement for applicants who have a 3.0 G.P.A. in their last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
