Introduction to the 3/2 Joint BSIE/MBA Program

The 3/2 Joint BSIE/MBA Program is designed for highly capable Industrial Engineering students, offering an opportunity to complete both a BSIE degree and an MBA degree in 5 years, a feat that would normally take 6 or more years.

Program Overview

The 3/2 program allows students to accelerate their undergraduate program through advanced placement credit and summer/intersession/independent study work, enabling them to meet most of the requirements for their BSIE program by the end of their junior year.

Admission Criteria

To be considered for the program, students must:

• Take the GMAT or GRE during their junior year
• Apply for admission to the MBA program at the end of their junior year
• Participate in an interview with the MBA coordinator and/or admissions committee
• Meet the minimum requirement of a 3.0 overall GPA and 600 GMAT/314 GRE

Program Requirements

• Students must earn a 3.0 or higher on all coursework applied to the MBA program
• The MBA and BSIE degrees are normally awarded concurrently at the end of the 5th year
• Students must complete the BSIE degree before or concurrent with the MBA to complete the MBA

Accelerated Completion

Accelerated completion of the two degrees is accomplished by:

• Students in BSIE accelerating the undergraduate program through advanced placement credit and summer/intersession/independent study work
• Up to 9 credits of MBA 7000-level coursework being applied towards the Technical Elective requirement in the BSIE undergraduate curriculum
• Up to 9 credits of senior-level IE coursework eligible for graduate credit being applied towards the MBA elective requirements
• Students conducting an internship during the summer following their senior (4th) year, which counts towards 3 credits of MBA elective requirement as well as IE Tech Elective A

Tuition Fees

Students admitted to the program pay MBA premium tuition for their final two years.
