Introduction to the Photography Program
The photography program at Herron School of Art + Design features an interconnected practice of analog and digital image production. As a student, you will be exposed to a full spectrum of photography processes and associated media. Professors will encourage your personal growth and artistic voice, while also helping to develop your technical proficiency.

From learning industry-standard workflows for capturing images with your digital camera to exploring how to make a stunning black-and-white silver gelatin print in the darkroom, each semester in the photography program expands your knowledge of professional photography practice and its rich history as a medium of visual expression.

Herron's photography program has the biggest and most diverse photographic education facility in the state of Indiana. You will have access to:

- Large-format Canon digital printers (44" and 17")
- Darkrooms for black and white silver gelatin, historical and non-silver printing
- UV light exposure units for historical print processes
- Jobo processor for 35mm, medium- and large-format color film developing
- Film development room
- Hasselblad and Canon digital cameras
- 35mm, medium- and large-format cameras
- Lenses for Canon and Nikon camera systems with adaptors for Sony
- Outfitted lighting studio with Profoto and Elinchrom strobe lights, light shaping accessories and LED continuous source lights
- Equipment cage offering lighting, tripods, audio recorders and DV video cameras
- Mac computer labs with advanced editing software
- Flextight and Epson v800 professional scanners
- Finishing room with a RodaTrim print trimmer and a Coda Cold-Mount press
- Installation space with gallery lighting
