Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Lifespan track is a three-year full-time or four-year part-time program of study that includes 66 credit hours and 1,005 clinical hours. The program prepares students to deliver innovative, quality mental health care across the lifespan.
Certification
Graduates are eligible to sit for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Lifespan). Additionally, as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), graduates qualify to apply for prescriptive authority from the Indiana Licensing Board.
Program Details
The BSN-DNP Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track develops the skills necessary for work in case management, professional leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration across a wide range of healthcare settings, including:
- Community mental health centers
- Ambulatory care settings
- Government agencies
- Private group practice
- Hospital settings
Clinical placements are arranged cooperatively by students and faculty. The remaining clinical hours are completed through the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a population health intervention for the evidence-based DNP project.
