Cytotechnology Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree
The Cytotechnology Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree program is designed to prepare students for a career in cytotechnology. The program is offered at the Indianapolis campus and features state-of-the-art laboratory space and simulation centers. The program has a strong clinical affiliation with IU Health, Eskenazi Health, and the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center.
Learning Outcomes
The program prepares competent entry-level cytotechnologists in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. Program graduates have a Board of Registry Pass Rate of at least 80 percent and job placement rates of at least 75 percent. The program has a three-year average ASCP-Board of Certification first-time pass rate of 100 percent, and the student retention rate is at least 80 percent.
Working as a Cytotechnologist
Cytotechnologists evaluate cell samples through microscopic analysis to determine any abnormalities. They are trained to identify early signs of cancer and infectious diseases and can work in hospitals or labs, interacting with patients or working independently on cell analysis.
