Psychiatry Residency in Merrillville
The IU School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency program in Merrillville was accredited in September 2020 and expands the opportunity for resident training in Northern Indiana.
Program Description
Residency training includes a wide variety of quality clinical experiences and educational didactics through Regional Care Group, Indiana's largest and most comprehensive network of community-based health care and social services. Residents will receive training in all areas of psychiatry in the inpatient psychiatric unit that offers a 16-bed safe and structured therapeutic setting for those experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms, outpatient services, four federal qualified health centers, and two residential addictions units.
Community Mental Health Setting
The community mental health setting provides residents with the rare opportunity to follow patients throughout their care and gain expansive knowledge of treatments for lifetime psychiatric illness. Residents have the opportunity to develop fully integrated models of care while increasing access to psychiatric services within underserved communities in Northwest Indiana.
