Program Overview


Introduction to the 2026/2027 Chinese Government Scholarship "High-Level Research Student" Program at Jilin University

Jilin University, founded in 1946, is a comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, and it is one of the first universities to be included in the "985 Project" and "211 Project". In 2017, it was selected as a "Double First-Class" construction university. The university has a complete range of disciplines, covering 13 major categories, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary fields.


Recruitment Categories and Majors

The program recruits full-time graduate students (master's and doctoral students) in various majors. The specific recruitment majors for master's and doctoral students are listed in Attachment 1. The basic duration of study for master's students is 2 or 3 years, with a maximum study period of 3 or 4 years. The basic duration of study for doctoral students is 4 years, with a maximum study period of 6 years.


Application Requirements

  1. Non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy.
  2. Age, academic qualifications, and language requirements:
    • Applicants for master's degrees must have a bachelor's degree, excellent academic performance, and be under 35 years old.
    • Applicants for doctoral degrees must have a master's degree, excellent academic performance, and be under 40 years old.
    • For majors taught in Chinese, the applicant's Chinese proficiency must reach HSK Level 4.
    • Applicants must also meet the academic, language, and other requirements of the applied major.

Scholarship Content

The scholarship covers tuition fees, comprehensive medical insurance, living expenses, and accommodation subsidies (accommodation subsidy standards: 700 yuan/month for undergraduate and master's students, 1,000 yuan/month for doctoral students) during the study period in China.


Application and Review Process

  1. First Step: Application Submission
    • Applicants must submit their applications through the Jilin University International Student Registration System before March 1, 2026.
    • Applications submitted before January 1, 2026, will be given priority for the first batch of review and recommendation.
    • Required application materials include: passport, certified highest degree certificate, transcript, language proficiency certificate, study plan, recommendation letter, physical examination form, and non-criminal record certificate.
  2. Second Step: Preliminary Review by the International Education College
    • The International Education College will review the applicants' qualifications based on the recruitment requirements, focusing on academic background, language proficiency, identity qualifications, and health status.
  3. Third Step: Review and Remote Interview or Written Examination by the Teaching Unit
    • The teaching unit will organize experts to review the applicants' academic performance, research ability, language proficiency, academic background, and comprehensive quality, and conduct remote interviews or written examinations.
  4. Fourth Step: Submission of Applications to the Chinese Government Scholarship Council
    • The university will notify the applicants of the pre-admission results and provide pre-admission notices.
  5. Fifth Step: Recommendation to the Chinese Government Scholarship Council
    • The university will submit the recommended list to the Chinese Government Scholarship Council.
  6. Sixth Step: Expert Review by the Chinese Government Scholarship Council
    • The Chinese Government Scholarship Council will organize experts to review the applicants' academic performance, comprehensive quality, and development potential, and select the best candidates.
  7. Seventh Step: Notification of Admission Results
    • The International Education College will notify the applicants of the admission results.

Notes

  1. Admitted students must strictly follow the university's regulations and complete registration procedures on time. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the scholarship.
  2. Students who fail to obtain the corresponding degree or certificate, or fail the physical examination, will be cancelled from the scholarship program.

The accommodation fees for on-campus dormitories are as follows:

Precautions

  1. Chinese Government Scholarship students are not allowed to enjoy other scholarships set up by the Chinese government or the admitting institution at the same time.
  2. Applicants who have already applied for other universities through the Chinese Government Scholarship Council should not reapply for Jilin University.
  3. Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change their major, study period, or language of instruction after admission.
  4. Scholarship students must participate in annual assessments to confirm whether they will continue to receive scholarships in the next academic year.
