The 2024 "Foundation Science Elite Student Cultivation Plan 2.0" trial class (Tang Aoqing Class) student selection process has commenced. The following details outline the selection criteria, process, and requirements for eligible students.
Selection Object
The selection is open to all 2024-level full-time undergraduate students of Jilin University, with English as their foreign language. Students admitted through special channels, such as the "Strong Foundation Plan," international cooperation programs, minority pre-college programs, high-level sports teams, and high-level art troupes, are not included in this selection.
Selection Plan
The total number of students to be selected for the 2024-level "Foundation Science Elite Student Cultivation Plan 2.0" trial class (Tang Aoqing Class) is approximately 120. In addition to direct recruitment channels, such as high school competitions and special talent recruitment, this selection aims to recruit around 50 students through an examination.
Selection Conditions
Basic Conditions
- The selection is open to students from science and engineering backgrounds, including those from high school physics and comprehensive classes.
- For students from provinces with high school reform, the chemistry elite base recruits students who have chosen chemistry as their high school subject, the physics base recruits students who have chosen physics, the biological science base recruits students who have chosen chemistry or biology, and the computer science base recruits students who have chosen physics.
Additional Conditions
To be eligible, students must meet one of the following conditions:
- Winners of provincial-level or above awards in national high school mathematics competitions, national high school physics competitions, national high school chemistry competitions, national high school biology competitions, or national youth informatics Olympiad competitions.
- Winners of gold, silver, or bronze medals in the finals of the aforementioned competitions, who can exempt from the written test and directly participate in the interview after qualification review.
- Students with a high school mathematics score of 145 or above (out of 150), who can exempt from the written test and directly participate in the interview for the mathematics or computer science elite base after qualification review.
- Participants in the "Talent Program for Middle School Students" organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, who can exempt from the written test and directly participate in the interview after completing the program and obtaining a certificate.
- Students who meet the high school graduation exam score requirements and English language requirements.
Selection Procedure
Propaganda and Mobilization
From August 24th to August 30th, each college will carry out propaganda and mobilization work for the "Foundation Science Elite Student Cultivation Plan 2.0" trial class (Tang Aoqing Class).
Student Registration
Eligible students must register and sign up through the online registration system. Students who have won awards in competitions or have completed the "Talent Program for Middle School Students" must upload their award certificates, program completion certificates, and other required documents during registration.
Written Test
Students who pass the qualification review will participate in a written test organized by the school. The test will be held offline on September 7th and 8th. The test content includes:
- Chemistry base: chemistry, mathematics, and English.
- Biological science base: biology, chemistry, and English.
- Mathematics, physics, and computer science bases: mathematics, physics, and English, with additional questions for computer science.
Interview
The interview will be held offline in mid-September. It will assess students' comprehensive academic quality, moral character, and psychological quality, focusing on their ability to analyze and solve problems, as well as their understanding and interest in the subject.
Work Requirements
- Each college must attach great importance to the selection work and actively carry out propaganda and mobilization.
- Students must complete registration, sign-up, and download their admission tickets through the online registration system.
- Students can only apply for one professional direction.
- Students must carefully read the registration conditions and ensure the authenticity of their information.
- The specific time, location, and requirements for the written test and interview will be announced through the admission ticket and the school's website.
