Audiology Specialty Certificate

The Audiology Specialty Certificate is designed to provide professionals in other disciplines with an in-depth knowledge of audiologic assessment procedures and a robust understanding of audiologic and communication management resources for the hard of hearing and deaf populations.

This fully online program is designed to be completed in two consecutive semesters, primarily via synchronous meetings. The program requires 13 credit hours and is open to postbaccalaureate/graduate students with a unique interest in areas such as pediatric and school-age hearing-impaired and deaf populations, adults and elderly populations with hearing loss and related communication problems, cochlear implants, auditory processing disorders, auditory training, aural habilitation/rehabilitation, and comprehensive assessment of communication needs and hearing conservation.

Admissions Requirements

Prospective students will follow Georgia State University admission policies and the same application deadlines as other College of Education & Human Development programs. The admissions requirements include:

  • Goals statement: A two-page document summarizing career goals related to communication sciences and disorders, specifically in the areas of audiology and interprofessional education and collaborative practice
  • Minimum 2.5 undergraduate GPA or a master's degree required for admission consideration

Curriculum

The Audiology Specialty Certificate is a 13 credit hour program of study, consisting of:


  • Introduction to Hearing Sciences and Disorders (3-credit hours)
  • Aural Rehabilitation (3-credit hours)
  • Advanced Audiological Assessment (3-credit hours)
  • Amplification and Assistive Listening Devices (3-credit hours)
  • Management of Auditory Processing Disorders Seminar (1-credit hour)
