Program Overview

The Social Studies Education program offers certification for grades 6-12 and is available to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in History, Geography, Political Science, or Economics.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must complete the following requirements:

• Earn an undergraduate degree in History, Geography, Political Science, or Economics
• Complete 24 hours of upper division courses in one area to form a single concentration
• Note that the concentration must be in one area, and not a combination of the four areas

Certification Options

Certification is available in the following areas:

• History
• Economics
• Political Science

Concentration Areas

The program allows students to concentrate in one of the four areas:

• History
• Geography
• Political Science
• Economics
• Note that the 24 hours of upper division courses must be completed in one of these areas to form a single concentration
