Program Overview
Introduction to the Exercise Science, M.S. Program
The Georgia State M.S. in Exercise Science prepares students to conduct research in exercise science or pursue careers in worksite health promotion or fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, or related clinical programs.
Program Highlights
The program includes classroom, laboratory, research, and field experience in biomechanics, exercise physiology, psychology of physical activity, and related interdisciplinary coursework in areas such as public health, gerontology, and nutrition.

When applying to the Exercise Science, M.S. program, you will need to submit several documents for review, including:

- Official Transcript(s): Minimum 2.75 GPA required for admission
Program of Study
The program consists of:
- Professional Studies (3): Select one course or an approved equivalent
- Required Major Courses (12):
- KH 6280 Psychology of Physical Activity
- KH 7500 Physiology of Exercise
- KH 7510 Biomechanics
- KH 8375 Functional Anatomy for Exercise Science
- Electives (15): Select five courses in consultation with your adviser
- Culminating Experience (6): Select one course in consultation with your adviser
- Program total: Minimum of 36 semester hours

- Fall: April 1 (only for applicants who have completed all prerequisite undergraduate coursework)
- Spring: Does Not Admit
- Summer: April 1 (only for applicants who have not completed all prerequisite undergraduate coursework)
- Prerequisite Undergraduate Coursework: Applied Human Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Human Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, and Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription. Applicants with deficiencies in these areas will be required to apply for Summer semester admission.
