Program Overview

The English program at Georgia State University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of language and literature, as well as the craft of writing. Concentrations

English majors can select from several areas of concentration, including:

Curriculum

The major requires 30 hours of upper-division coursework in English or Folklore. Students are encouraged to explore introductory courses, such as English 2120 (Introduction to British Literature) and English 2130 (Introduction to American Literature), early in their program. These courses introduce methods for studying literary history and practicing textual analysis.
