Program Overview
Introduction to the Yonsei University Frontier Fellowship
The Yonsei University Frontier Fellowship is a program designed for postdoctoral researchers, aiming to accomplish the purposes of the Yonsei Frontier Lab, including the globalization of research and education, increase in research achievement, and enhancement of international recognition.
Purpose
The primary objectives of the fellowship are:
- To strengthen Yonsei's competitiveness in academic research by recruiting outstanding post-doctoral researchers who can immediately contribute to research results.
- To achieve the Yonsei Frontier Lab's purposes, such as new globalization of research and education, increase in research achievement, and enhancement of international recognition.
Eligibility and Conditions for Funding
Applicable Disciplines
The fellowship is open to applicants in the following fields:
- Science and Engineering fields
- Humanities and Social Science fields in Sinchon/International Campus
Eligibility Requirements
The criteria for applicants include:
- Academic achievements
- Criteria for Sponsoring Faculty
- Other relevant qualifications
Preference
Preference will be given to applicants who have applied for the "Outstanding Overseas Scientist Invitation Program Plus (Brain Pool+)" of the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).
Note
Post-doc researchers who are receiving support from certain programs, such as BK21+, General Researcher Support Program Research Fellow, Academic Next Generation Cultivation Program (Post-Doc domestic training, part-time instructor support, academic research professor), and Overseas Outstanding New and Rising Researcher Invitation Program, are not eligible to apply.
Funding and Period of Support
Award Amount
The minimum post-doc annual stipend is 52 million won.
Funding Period
The funding period is 1 year, with the possibility of renewal for a second and third year.

Selection and Evaluation Process
Evaluation Steps
The evaluation process consists of two steps:
- 1st step of evaluation: Requirement pre-screening
- 2nd step of evaluation: Comprehensive evaluation
Notification of Decision
Applicants will be notified of the decision via email after the evaluation process.
Payment and Administration
YFL Funding and Faculty Matching
YFL funding and faculty matching are provided every month, from the Yonsei University Industry Foundation as the wage income.
Retirement Allowance
If a full year of employment is completed, the remaining 1/13 will be granted as retirement allowance.
