Introduction to the Teacher Training Program

The Teacher Training Program at Yonsei University is designed to cultivate highly qualified middle school teachers. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in teaching methods, educational theory, and practical training.

Operational Regulations

The Operational Regulations of the Teacher Training Program are as follows:


Establishment and Revision

  • Establishment Date: April 1, 1973
  • Revision Date: July 27, 2020
  • Responsible Department: Teacher Training Committee - Teacher Training Department

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these regulations is to efficiently operate the teacher training education to cultivate highly qualified middle school teachers.


Article 2 (Composition)

The Teacher Training Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Committee") shall be composed of 9 members or less, including 1 chairperson.


  1. The Committee shall consist of a chairperson, who shall be the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and ex officio members, including the Dean of the College of Education, the Dean of the Graduate School of Education, the Head of the Planning Office, the Head of the Academic Affairs Office, the Vice Dean of the College of Education, and the Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Education. At least one of the appointed members shall be an external expert in teacher training.

Article 3 (Term of Office)

  1. The term of office of the chairperson and ex officio members shall be the same as their term of office, and the term of office of other members shall be 2 years, with the possibility of reappointment for one term.
  2. If the chairperson is unable to perform their duties due to unavoidable circumstances, the member designated by the chairperson in advance shall act on their behalf.

Article 4 (Functions)

  1. The Committee shall have the right to decide on and inspect all matters related to teacher training education.
  2. The chairperson shall oversee the affairs of the Committee and represent the Committee.
  3. The Committee shall deliberate and decide on the following matters related to teacher training education:
  • Matters related to the screening of applicants for teacher certification without examination
  • Matters related to the selection of students expected to complete the teacher training course
  • Matters related to the operation of the teacher training curriculum
  • Matters related to the operation of educational practices
  • Other matters related to teacher training education

Article 5 (Operation)

To efficiently operate the matters referred to in the preceding article, a Teacher Training Department shall be established under the Committee.


  1. The Teacher Training Department shall consist of one full-time teacher, one academic affairs staff member in charge of teacher training, one staff member in charge of teacher training at the undergraduate level, and one staff member in charge of teacher training at the graduate level, with a total of 6 members or less.
  2. The Teacher Training Department shall perform the following tasks:
  • General administrative and financial matters related to teacher training
  • Registration and attendance for the teacher training curriculum
  • Course opening and operation of the teacher training curriculum
  • Coordination between the Graduate School of Education, colleges, and departments related to teacher training
  • Other practical matters related to the functions and operation of the Teacher Training Committee

Article 6 (Decision-Making)

The Committee meeting shall be convened with the attendance of a majority of the members, and a decision shall be made with the consent of a majority of the attending members.


Addenda

(1) These regulations shall take effect on April 1, 1973. (2) These revised regulations shall take effect on April 15, 1981. (3) These revised regulations shall take effect on September 30, 1981. (4) These revised regulations shall take effect on March 2, 1983. (5) These revised regulations shall take effect on March 2, 1985. (6) This revised regulation (Article 3) shall take effect on October 23, 2002. (7) This revised regulation shall take effect on March 1, 2008. (8) This revised regulation (Article 2, paragraph 2) shall be deemed to have taken effect on February 1, 2018. (9) This revised regulation (Article 2, paragraph 2) shall be deemed to have taken effect on May 1, 2020.
