Program Overview


NUFSA Japanese Language Course for Families

The NUFSA Japanese Language Course for Families is organized by the Nagoya University International Student Association (NUFSA) in cooperation with the Support Team at the Global Engagement Center. This course provides an opportunity for international families to learn Japanese together, using textbooks, and meet other families.


Course Description

Specialized instructors teach the course twice a week, helping family members learn Japanese. By participating in this course, international families can experience life in Japan and enjoy their time learning Japanese together.


Eligibility

The following individuals can join the course:


  • Families of international students
  • Research students
  • Faculty/staff at Nagoya University
  • The individuals themselves, who need to learn Japanese As a principle, people not affiliated with Nagoya University cannot take the course.

Course Period

The course is offered during the following semesters:


  • Spring semester (from May to July)
  • Fall semester (from November to January)

Fall Semester 2025

  • Duration: November 4th, 2025 (Tuesday) - January 27th, 2026 (Tuesday)
  • Class Schedule:
    • Tuesdays and Thursdays
    • Class 1 (Beginner): 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
    • Class 2 (Elementary): 11:10 AM - 12:40 PM
  • Location: #201, 2F, International Center (国際棟 kokusai-toh), Nagoya University
  • Opening Ceremony: 10:00-11:30 November 4th, Tuesday, 2025
  • Textbook: Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture, A1 for Rikai, which focuses on practical Japanese for everyday situations.

Registration

  • Enrollment Limit: 12 participants per class on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Course Fee: 15,000 yen (includes textbook cost), non-refundable even in the case of mid-course withdrawal
  • Deadline: October 20th, Monday
