Introduction to the University Program
The University of Chile offers a comprehensive range of programs for international students, including exchange programs, undergraduate and graduate degrees, and research opportunities.
Program Details
Intercambio Internacional Presencial
The Intercambio Internacional Presencial (International Exchange Program) allows students from partner universities to study at the University of Chile for a semester or academic year.
- Requirements:
- Students must have completed at least two years of university studies.
- Excellent academic record, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Proficiency in Spanish, with a B1 level (intermediate) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or B2 for students taking courses in the Faculty of Medicine.
- Official nomination from the International Relations Office of the home university.
Nominación por parte de la Universidad de origen
The Programa de Movilidad Estudiantil (PME) contacts all partner universities annually to inform them of the nomination procedure and deadlines.
- Deadlines:
- For the first semester (March to July): September 8 to September 22 of the previous year.
- For the second semester (August to December): March 1 to March 31 of the same year.
Postulación por parte de los estudiantes nominados
Once nominated, students must apply online within the specified deadlines.
- Deadlines:
- For the first semester (March to July): October 1 to October 20 of the previous year.
- For the second semester (August to December): April 1 to April 15 of the same year.
Pasos para realizar una postulación
To apply, students must follow these steps:
- Reunir documentación (Gather documentation):
- Certificado de Notas (Transcript): updated and in English or Spanish, with a general grade of 5.0 or higher on the Chilean grading scale.
- Identificación (Identification): a color copy of the passport identification page in JPG, PNG, or PDF format.
- Certificación de idioma (Language certification): B1 level (intermediate) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or equivalent certification issued by the home university. Students taking courses in the Faculty of Medicine must have a B2 level.
- Acuerdo Académico (Academic Agreement): a document outlining the courses to be taken at the University of Chile and the equivalent courses at the home university.
- Completar Formulario de Postulación (Complete the Application Form):
- The PME will contact nominated students via email with the application procedure and a link to the application form.
- Selección y Aceptación (Selection and Acceptance):
- The PME will admit students who meet the requirements and submit the required documentation.
- Selected students will receive a Carta de Aceptación (Acceptance Letter) from the University of Chile, which they can use to apply for a student visa.
- Students must also present proof of medical insurance and travel assistance valid for the entire academic period.
Additional Requirements for Postgraduate Students
Students applying for postgraduate mobility must review the information related to the different programs available in their discipline to prepare their Academic Agreement. They must also prepare a motivation letter for the coordinator of the postgraduate program they are applying to.
