Program Overview


Introduction to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Chile is a leading institution in the field of agricultural sciences and natural resources. With a long history dating back to 1876, the faculty has been at the forefront of education and research in these areas.


Liderazgo and Prestigio Acadķmico

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is currently ranked as the top institution in Chile for agricultural sciences, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and Amķrica EconomĒa. The faculty's academic body consists of over 110 academics and 215 professionals, technicians, administrators, and operators, with 62% of academics holding a doctoral degree and 21% holding a master's degree.


Formaci¾n de Excelencia

Since 1928, the faculty has graduated almost 5,000 agricultural engineers who have contributed to the development of important industries in Chile, such as the bovine, avian, porcine, fruit, and aquaculture industries. Many of these graduates have gone on to pursue academic careers, not only at the University of Chile but also at other universities in the country.


Grandes Egresados

The faculty's alumni include notable figures such as Professor Renķ Cortßzar Sagarminaga, the first and only agricultural engineer to receive the National Prize for Applied Sciences and Technology. Other distinguished alumni include Professor Carlos Mu±oz Pizarro, Professor Tomßs Cooper Cortķs, and Professor Rodrigo Infante Espinosa, all of whom are members of the Chilean Academy of Agricultural Sciences.


Infraestructura al Servicio del Conocimiento

The faculty's main campus, Campus Antumapu, is located in the heart of the La Pintana commune in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. The campus spans 67,000 square meters and features a library, classrooms, laboratories, greenhouses, and offices. The campus also includes an auditorium with a capacity for 300 people, an outdoor amphitheater with a capacity for 1,000 people, and a extension center with two auditoriums for 150 people.


Estaciones Experimentales

In addition to its main campus, the faculty has five experimental stations located throughout Chile, where students can conduct professional practices, thesis projects, and research. These stations are located in the regions of Coquimbo, Metropolitan Santiago, Maule, and Los Lagos.


Academic Programs

The faculty offers two main undergraduate programs: Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resources. Additionally, the faculty offers eight master's programs in different specialties, allowing students to continue their studies with an additional year of coursework.
