The Doctorado en Ciencias, mención Microbiología (PhD in Sciences, mention in Microbiology) is a postgraduate program offered by the Facultad de Ciencias (Faculty of Sciences) at the Universidad de Chile.

The graduate will be an investigator prepared to work in various areas of Microbiology, including basic aspects such as Molecular Biology, Virology, and Microbial Ecology, as well as more applied areas like Microbiology of Pathogenic Organisms and Industrial Processes.

Plan of Studies
The program is organized into semesters, with a minimum academic load of 240 credits. The plan of studies includes:
- Three compulsory courses
- One elective course

- Seminars The program's central activity is the elaboration of a thesis equivalent to 120 credits.
Duration
The minimum duration of the program is 6 semesters of full-time dedication, and the maximum is 10 semesters.
Admission Requirements
To apply for the program, candidates must have a Licenciado, Magíster, or Professional Title in a relevant discipline, with a level, content, and duration of studies equivalent to a Licenciado degree at the Universidad de Chile. Candidates must submit their application, including a curriculum vitae, admission form, concentration of notes, publications, previous work, and letters of recommendation.
Tuition Fees
The annual tuition fee for 2025 is $6,100,000, with discounts of up to 100% available. The matriculation fee for 2025 is $196,400.
